Zurich hosts Inhousecommunity Days Switzerland 2022

On October 27, 2022, with around 80 participants, the first day of the Special Inhousecommunity Days took place. This edition of the event, which brings together leading lawyers, general counsel and lawyers from renowned Swiss companies and law firms, took place at the GDI Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute in Zurich. The event begins with the founder and managing director of LC Publishing Group, Aldo Scaringellathe welcome message. Hereafter, thereafter, Jasprit SahnsiDeputy General Counsel and Head of Internal Audit of Selecta as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Europe ACC, continued with an opening speech highlighting the importance of the role of in-house lawyers and general counsel.

The first round table, moderated by journalist Mercedes Galan, focused on the theme “The future role of the corporate lawyer in the 21st century: from corporate lawyer to general lawyer”. The panel of speakers was very engaging as it included high profile and representative profiles from the legal, business and health hunting sectors. Key players in the legal sector shared their knowledge and expertise and discussed the future role of in-house lawyers in Switzerland. The event was organized by LC Publishing Group with the participation of Lenz & Staehelin, LCA and the support of ACC Switzerland.

At 2.45 p.m., the debate began with interventions by Corinne Bühler (senior lawyer at AXA Investment Managers), Elmar buth (group general counsel at Ivoclar), Matthias Wolf (partner, corporate and mergers & acquisitions at Lenz & Staehelin), Alexandre Lacher (General Counsel of Generali Switzerland and CEO of Fortuna Life Insurance Liechtenstein), Fabienne-Anne Rehulka (General Counsel of iptiQ, SwissRe) and Alexander Zinser (partner and executive search consultant at Roy C. Hitchman). They all discuss topics such as the lawyer of the future and their qualities beyond legal training, the importance of balance and internal promotion, the secret to becoming a general counsel or the role of legaltech tools in the near future.

After the debate concluded, the program turned into a more leisurely experience with the GC cocktail and dinner. After the first cocktail, Karen YenGeneral Counsel UBS Global Wealth Management with Enrico Marianipartner of LCA Studio Legale, were the protagonists of the Dialogue on the profession of GC, led by Suzan Taha.

The second day of the event will take place on Friday, October 28. Two round tables will address current and relevant topics such as “The impact of legal privilege on the Swiss market” and “Salary benchmarking and the future of the CLO”.
